Hi there, we installed 2 of these Hawkins fans in our kids' rooms... one we installed and the second our home builder's workers installed. We used a wireless transmitter for the light switch as it wasn't wired for both a fan and light switch (this was our best bet for kids to be able to control both from the switch).

Anyway, my daughters' was making a scraping noise, (we did not install this one) my assumption was that they did not secure the transmitter and it was scraping against the motor. I took the light assembly and blades off, and can look up into the motor housing to see that I was right... it is loose and scraping. However, I cannot for the life of me get the motor housing off. At first I thought it was a strength issue and wanted to wait for my husband to try, but I went into my son's room and sure enough that housing comes off without hardly any effort.

It seems as though it is jammed somehow, and I can't figure out any way to get it off... I am hoping you may have some ideas???? I am completely out of them. I don't care if I have to find a replacement housing (or even a new fan at this point- can you tell I am frustrated???) I just want to fix it so that we don't have a hazard and ruin the $50 transmitter!

Thank you for your time!

ut you can fix that as well if it doesn't work for you simply by removing 3 or 4 of the beads used in the speed pull chain of the Hampton Bay Hawkins ceiling fan inside the housing as that seems to be what everybodies problem has been as to why it wouldn't switch speeds. Haven't ran across that myself, but should work and does from what they all have been saying.

HOW DO GO ABOUT DOING THIS??????????

I purchased 3 of the Hampton Bay Hawkins 44 inch and really like them but they are extremely dim not enough light, I tried putting clear lights in but not much better. Can the light kit be replaced with one that puts out more light??? I really hope so because not only do I really like them but thay are installed already! If not able to exchange light kits I will have to return them for something with better lighting! Hope you can help!

We would like to flush mount a fan on a beam that is only 7 inches wide. Do you know the dimensions on the fan canopy and if this will fit?
If it doesn't, do you have any other suggestions for a fan with small canopy that will work with a low ceiling? Thanks.

Since Hampton Bay is sold solely through Home Depot you might check there for the replacement globes. There may be a few around online that deal with replacement parts for Hampton Bay fans, but sometimes better to stick with where there made.
