Hello,

I purchased one of these fans for my bedroom. It goes well with the Caribbean style bedroom suite I have. However, I cannot get the remote to work correctly. The light works with the remote, but the fan comes on at high speed and I cannot get the remote to turn the fan off or change the speed. I can turn the light on & off.
I am going to check for a ph number in the instruction booklet tomorrow to see if someone can help with why this fan won't change speeds. I have the fan motor connected to my black wire, the white wires all connected to my white (common), the grounds are all connected and the light kit was connected to my red. Now I ahve them all on the black. I've tried several variations and none work.
Any thoughts?

Hiya John:
Actually the Solstice is a fan that's rated "Damp", you are correct. But there is a big difference in a fan being rated "damp" versus "wet". You can see more of that here where I talked about outdoor ceiling fans.

The Harbor Breeze Solstice is a beautiful ceiling fan, but not one that I would necessarily want to get wet. Yeah, you could use it outdoors since it is rated damp but would definitely need to be in a covered type area where it wouldn't catch anything direct from the elements. Typically when I talk and think about outdoor ceiling fans it's more along the lines of the ones that can get "wet", talking something a little bit more than the morning dew here. I guess I should rephrase that to say that it is rated damp and one that could be used outdoors in a covered area, but if it was me personally buying one and putting it in an outdoor area I would go with one that's rated wet as you just never know what could happen as it could occur from something that's not even from a force of nature so to speak. But if you have a sun room or porch that's covered this fan could work.

By the way, have you installed it yet? How's the fan working for you? I'd love to hear your thoughts on it.

Can you go into just a little more detail about your statement that "The Harbor Breeze Solstice is not an outdoor ceiling fan." We purchased one in Jan 2009 and the box says, "UL Listed for Damp Locations" and "Damp: Indoor/Outdoor enclosed porches." Thank you.

The globe, while snugly fit, will turn. Simply hold the globe with both hands and firmly twist in a counter clockwise direction. Hope this helps.

I just purchased the Solstice fan for my living room and I absolutely love it. I love the design, color and that it hangs about 2 foot down from the ceiling. It is pretty much the focal point in the room. However, there were no intructions in the box when I purchased it, and we cannot figure out how to get the globe off of the light so we can change the bulb. Can you help with that?
